ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ In 2025, Pensacola logged 10 fatal traffic crashes—the worst since 2021—with eight deaths from speeding and six on motorcycles, as three of the motorcycle crashes happened near 14th Avenue and Gregory Street by the new Pensacola Bay Bridge, and Mayor D.C. Reeves said police and FDOT will work to boost safety. Pensacola News Journal

- ➤ Planet Fitness will open its new gym tomorrow at 312 E. Nine Mile Road with updated facilities and recovery equipment while keeping the same staff from its previous club that closed on Aug. 27. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pensacola’s red light camera program began in January and now averages about 97 citations a day. Citation numbers dropped from 3,162 to 2,673 in June but rose in July—Mayor D.C. Reeves said the cameras catch clear safety violations that risk public safety. FOX 10
- ➤ Residents in Navarre oppose a road project that would use Leisure Street as a community access road and have signed a petition with over 1,300 signatures due to fears of heavy traffic, unsafe streets, and lower home values. County commissioners have extended the public comment period and plan to propose an alternate route—one that local homeowners say will keep their neighborhood safe. WEAR-TV
- ➤ Escambia County commissioners will vote on Thursday on a $2 million plan to buy and demolish seven West Pensacola houses that face frequent flood damage. If approved, the county will pay $500,000 while FEMA covers $1.5 million—demolition may begin as soon as next week. WEAR-TV

- ➤ The annual Krewe du YaYas One Stroke Closer to a Cure golf tournament will take place on October 10 at Scenic Hills Country Club to raise funds for the Keeping Abreast Foundation—this nonprofit helps fight breast cancer.
