CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Pensacola police arrested 30-year-old Robert Bruster for a West Gadsden Street shooting that occurred at 6 a.m. on Sunday — officers received an alert from the ShotSpotter system and one adult was injured but remains in stable condition. WEAR-TV
- ➤ The Escambia County Sheriff's Office is investigating an overnight stabbing on Olive Road near Malibu Drive where a man was stabbed in his upper chest, and officials said the suspect is a tall—white man who is not cooperating with the investigation. WEAR-TV

- ➤ WSRE announced its 16th season of StudioAmped—a free concert series—with artists including Grammy-winning Gary Nichols, Billy Droze, and The Burney Sisters performing at the Jean — Paul Amos Performance Studio at Pensacola State College. The concerts will begin Oct. 3 at the Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival and continue on Oct. 6, Oct. 8, Oct. 14, Oct. 15 and Oct. 16, all starting at 7 p.m. with free admission and donations collected for Manna Food Pantries. - ➤ Former city council president Ann Hill announced on September 3 her bid for Pensacola mayor in 2026 and introduced The Ann Plan, which calls for free downtown parking and the reopening of Bay Bluffs Park—her plan also includes affordable housing and rebuilding the Malcolm Yonge Center as she becomes the first candidate in the race. - ➤ A Pensacola woman contracted Vibrio vulnificus on July 27 after swimming in Santa Rosa Sound with a small cut, and her case is among the 23 infections reported this year that have resulted in five deaths statewide—Florida health officials note the bacteria thrive in warm coastal waters and can cause rapid, severe illness.
